Litter picking 2

From Beryl White,  6th November 2016

My goodness , it was a really windy morning with a short  burst of cold rain thrown in for good measure , but it didn’t deter the stalwart band of volunteers that turned up on Saturday for a stint of trying to make our village look tidy and cared for .On that note  , it was a shame that the band wasn’t  larger in numbers , but even so , a big pile of rubbish bags was amassed  in the 3 hours spent ridding our paths and verges of beer cans  , crisp bags and uneaten take-away meals . As before , the whole event was efficiently organised with Council provided equipment  , and in my view the job was an undertaking well worth doing ! Let us hope that the  next litter picking , probably in April I hear , is even more successful than was  yesterday’s ! Actually I quite enjoyed it , especially the coffee and bacon butties that came as a reward on our return to the Bowls Club base !

PS   the 20+ bacon sandwiches were kindly donated by the Kings Head.
